Interior Installation Guide

Follow these steps for a smooth, clean installation and a uniform finished appearance.

Recommended Tools & Materials

  • Cutting tool: Miter saw with fine-tooth blades
  • Recommended adhesives / compounds: Sheetrock 90 or Durabond 90
  • Damp sponge or cloth
  • Fine grit sanding paper or sanding sponge
  • Finish coat materials

Installation Steps

  1. Install the pieces so they are smooth, seamless, plumb, true, flush, and finished with square, neat corners.
  2. Apply a 12 mm (1/2") bead of adhesive to the top and bottom back surface of the molding.
  3. While the adhesive is still wet, press the piece firmly into the ceiling corner and clean away any excess adhesive with a damp sponge or cloth.
  4. For inside, outside, or mitered joints, apply 6 mm (1/4") joint compound to one side of the adjoining piece. Join the pieces with constant pressure to create a tight, void-free joint, then wipe away excess compound.
  5. Allow the joint compound to dry completely, then sand smooth using fine grit sanding paper or a sanding sponge.
  6. Once sanded, the finished joint should be smooth and ready for the finish coat.

Finish Coat

  1. Apply the finish coat according to the finish system manufacturer’s written instructions.
  2. Apply the finish using the manufacturer’s recommended texture and color.
  3. Match the approved sample for texture and color, and use the same tools, equipment, and techniques throughout the job to ensure a uniform finish.

Helpful Tips

  • Measure carefully before cutting.
  • Use fine-tooth blades for cleaner cuts and better fit at joints.
  • Clean excess adhesive or compound right away for a neater finish.
  • Keep application methods consistent across the full installation for the best final appearance.
